Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller took out the 2013 edition of the race with Royal Descent and he will have three chances to record a second win in the $1 million race this weekend after including Winx, Wine Tales and Ballet Suite in the field.

Winx started her autumn preparation with fair performances in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m), but she returned to her best form with a strong effort in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens before she hit the line strongly when fifth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at the same venue on March 28.

Ballet Suite was another horse that hit the line strongly in the Vinery Stud Stakes and she looks like she will relish the step-up to 2400 metres, while Wine Tales will need to improve on her effort in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) to be a winning chance in the Group 1 event.

The Vinery Stud Stakes is set to be the key form reference to the Australian Oaks, but winner Fenway is still available at a fairly juicy quote of $6.50 to take out the Australian Oaks this weekend.

Fenway produced two fair performances in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) in Melbourne before she proved too strong for the highly rated First Seal in the Vinery Stud Stakes.

Thunder Lady hit the line extremely well in the final stages of the Vinery Stud Stakes to finish third and she is one of the few horses in the Australian Oaks field that has previous experience over 2400 metres after she finished second behind Set Square in the 2014 edition of the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2400m).

One of the most interesting runners in the 2015 Australian Oaks field is Savaria, who will be making her Australian racing debut.

Savaria was not originally included in the Australian Oaks entries, but connections opted to pay the late entry fee to get her into the field after she outstayed her rivals to take out the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) at Trentham on March 14.

The 2015 Australian Oaks final field is rounded out by Adrian Knox Stakes winner Candelara, Peter Moody-trained Sweet and Speedy, Light Fingers Stakes winner Adrift, Kris Lees-trained Rustic Melody, Newcastle-based Wildenstein, John Sargent-trained Gust Of Wind and Team Cummings-trained Zarzali.
