Happy Hannah Primed for 2016 Australian Oaks

April 6th, 2016

Happy Hannah has experienced something of a meteoric rise to prominence this time and co-trainer Paul Snowden is confident the filly has only improved leading into Saturday’s 2016 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick.

Happy Hannah has only appeared at the races five times since debuting in August last year but has more than stamped herself as a filly to follow in posting two impressive wins and two minors; all four of those results coming in her four most-recent starts.

Having hit the line hard for an impressive third in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) a fortnight ago, Snowden told Racenet the More Than Ready filly has ticked over well in the lead up to the 2016 Australian Oaks on Saturday.

“It’s her grand final; plain and simple,” Snowden said.

“Her last run was excellent and she has been building with each run this preparation.

“We didn’t do a lot with her this morning (Tuesday), she’s where she needs to be and we’re very happy with her.

“To see her show the turn of foot she did last start was exciting and the distance on Saturday should not be a problem.

“It was a little bit hard to make ground from where she was at Rosehill but she hit the line hard after making a sustained run from before the turn.

“She’s trained on excellent and should be very competitive.”

Resuming in February for second in the Newcastle Basketball Maiden Plate (1300m), Happy Hannah produced a slick late turn of foot to post her first race win in the Windsor RSL Club Limited Maiden (1600m) at Hawkesbury on February 25th.

Repeating the dose in the All Too Hard BM67 (1600m) on March 9th, Happy Hannah was held up rounding onto the final straight in the Vinery Stud Stakes and appears as though she relish a step-up to a mile and a half in the 2016 Australian Oaks.

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2016 Australian Oaks odds, for which Happy Hannah can be taken at a generous quote of $4.60 for success.
