Yet to make a competitive appearance in Australia, Sofia Rosa was unlucky to throw her rider during the running of the Group 2 Eight Carat Classic (1600m) on Boxing Day, Sofia Rosa responded in the best way possible with success in the Group 2 Royal Stakes (2000m) on New Year’s Day.

Repeating the dose in the Group 3 Lowland Stakes (2100m), the Makfi filly was unlucky to be held up for a run rounding onto the final straight in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) on March 19th but mustered a strong turn of foot to finish a close second.

Sofia Rosa opened at a quote of $11 to win the 2016 Australian Oaks but will be partnered by leading Sydney hoop Hugh Bowman and continues to cut drastically in the days leading up to jump.

Jameka is yet to attract much interest in 2016 Australian Oaks betting markets but remains sole occupant of the top line at a quote of $3.60 for success.

Capping a standout spring preparation with consecutive wins in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) and Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m), Jameka resumed this time for a credible fourth in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m).

Progressing to a well-fought fifth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), the Myboycharlie filly savaged the line for third in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on March 10th before placing second in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) last weekend.

Damien Oliver retains the ride on Jameka in the Australian Oaks, who is sure to relish a return to fillies’ company on Day 2 of The Championships.

Happy Hannah has drifted slightly in 2016 Australian Oaks betting markets but remains fixed on the second line at a quote of $4.60 for success.

Happy Hannah returned to racing on February 6th for a close second in the Newcastle Basketball Maiden Plate (1600m) before posting her first race win in the Windsor RSL Club Maiden (1600m) a fortnight later.

Repeating the dose in the All Too Hard BM67 (1600m), the daughter of More Than Ready ran on for third in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) a fortnight ago and appears as though she will relish a step up to a mile and a half in the Australian Oaks.
