A final field of fourteen fillies take to the Randwick track in Race 6 at 2:35pm (AEDT) on Saturday afternoon in this year’s edition of the $1 million Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m).

Last weekend on Day 1 of ‘The Championships’ Kiwi trainer Murray Baker enjoyed his fourth win in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) with Jon Snow.

Seven days later he and co-trainer Andrew Forsman will saddle-up the favourite in Australian Oaks betting at Ladbrokes.com.au Bonneval who comes off a trio of wins back home.

The latest saw the Makfi filly enjoy a half-length win the Group 1 NZ Oaks (2400m), which produced last year’s ATC Oaks winner with Sofia Rosa improving on a lead-up second.

The latest Australian Oaks odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have Bonneval at $4 to do the across the international Oaks double and she jumps from barrier six with jockey Hugh Bowman aboard.

Bowman is an ATC Oaks specialist having ridden three past winners of the race to victory including the aforementioned Sofia Rosa last Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Also out of the New Zealand Oaks and backing-up in the Sydney edition this weekend is the Shaune Ritchie-trained runner-up Devise.

The daughter of Darci Brahma was beaten a half-length by Bonneval on March 18 and gets into the Australian Oaks field in gate nine with Damien Oliver aboard for her debut down under.

Devise is at $7 in Australian Oaks betting, while the last of the New Zealand fillies in the mix La Bella Diosa is at longer odds of $17 after her last start ninth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

The Vinery Stud Stakes last produced an Australian Oaks winner with Rising Romance (4th in 2014) and the best out of the race this year are Nurse Kitchen (2nd) and Harlow Gold (3rd).

Nurse Kitchen and the Lindsay Park-trained Harlow Gold, who ran second in Melbourne’s Crown Oaks in the spring, are both drawn wide in Australian Oaks barriers 14 and 12 respectively this weekend.

Harlow Gold is the $5 second elect to improve getting back up to the 2400m on Saturday as she chases her first black-type win, while Nurse Kitchen is the $6 third pick.

The other single-figure fancy at $8 for an upset is Lasqueti Sprit who beat home Harlow Gold in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington last November.

She brings into the race a different form line having run fifth behind Jameka in the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) against a field full of Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Sydney Cup hopes last time out.
